Edith Piaf’s voice sounds from the amplifiers. Surrounded by thousands of lights of the – almost too cheesy- Christmas decoration, I wrap my hands around a hot cup of mulled wine to warm them up… I found the way to Alsace, to once again immerse myself in the magic of Christmas and believe in fairy tales like a child . I experienced already in many places the Christmas spirit, but nothing was able to surpass Alsace. Especially the house decorations make you feel like you arrived in “Alice in Wonderland”. Admire the plush bears that hang from almost every window frame, hum the familiar Christmas tunes played by street musicians, and let a soft „wow!“out in amazement when the first lights turn on at dusk.

Aus den Verstärkern erklingt Edith Piafs Stimme. Umgeben von tausenden von Lichtern der fast schon etwas zu kitschigen weihnachtlichen Dekoration wärme ich meine Hände an einer heißen Tasse Glühwein…Ich habe den Weg nach Elsass gefunden, um noch einmal wie ein Kind an Märchen zu glauben und in den Zauber der Weihnachtszeit einzutauchen.
An vielen Orten konnte ich bereits die weihnachtliche Stimmung erleben, aber nichts konnte Elsass übertreffen. Besonders die Häuserdekorationen lassen dich glauben, du wärst wie Alice im Wunderland angekommen.

Besides famous Strassburg & Colmar I recommend to take the route des Vins d’Alsace and visit some small villages like

My favorite corner in Colmar is the Little Venice.

Definitely go to the AU DORE Cafe. You get there a fresh croissant served by a very lovely old woman.
